MUSE BOOTCAMP

Longitudinal boutique course
for IP certification

MUSE BOOTCAMP is a hands-on point of care ultrasound course for clinicians seeking Independent Practitioner (IP) certification from the Canadian Point of Care Ultrasound Society (CPoCUS).  This new, longitudinal IP certification course is for learners who prefer smaller groups and a more gradual learning process. It is a 30-hour course given over 10 weeks to no more than 6 participants! We continue to offer our exceptional ratio of one instructor for two participants.

Participants will have the opportunity to scan over 65 standardized patients in this course, ensuring improvement of skills to IP status. No prior experience in point of care ultrasound is required. This course is open to participants seeking full IP certification and to those who have already completed an introductory course.

THIS COURSE IS DIFFERENT!

This is the first course in Canada customized to very small groups and delivered longitudinally. The small group, longitudinal format will solidify the learning process. Participants present one evening a week to our training site over 10 weeks. After an introduction process in the first 2 weeks, participants proceed to consolidate skills and achieve the requisite number of supervised scans in each CORE module over ensuing weeks before challenging the CPoCUS Acute Care CORE IP or Family Medicine CORE IP certification exams at the end of the course.

MUSE BOOTCAMP is accredited by CPoCUS. All instructors are CPoCUS CORE IP certified with experience that spans teaching ultrasound in rural and urban ERs, ICUs, medical wards, and office-based clinics as well as teaching ultrasound during international aid to low-income countries.

The course is great value for the number of CME credits earned (48 Mainpro+® credits from the College of Family Physicians of Canada).

Course material

Pre-course reading is essential to optimize your hands-on experience during the practical sessions. You must prepare for the course by reviewing the CPoCUS CORE Curriculum and watching the instructional videos. Please read both Section 1 and Section 2.

If you are not already a CPoCUS member, there is a small fee to view the Curriculum ($25 for new members). Again this is great value for money as you can earn up to another 48 CME credits by reviewing the Curriculum and completing the CPoCUS Maintenance of Competency modules!

It is highly recommended that participants complete the Maintenance of Competency quizzes (click the “Maintain” button) to further optimize their hands-on learning experience.
